Rogers Media to scale back magazine business

Rogers Media Inc. will sell some of its print titles and turn four of its magazines into online-only publications, as part of efforts to scale back its magazine business and transition into a digital media company. The unit of Canada’s Rogers Communications Inc. said Sept. 30 that it will sell all of its business-to-business publications as well as French-language titles Châtelaine, LOULOU and L’actualité. The company is searching for “strong new ownership” for the latter three titles. Meanwhile, magazines FLARE, Sportsnet, MoneySense and Canadian Business will become exclusively available online and via mobile apps from January 2017. Existing subscribers will continue to get print copies of the magazines until the end of 2016, with various options available including a full refund of their subscriptions.
