Paramount Fine Foods CEO urges Ontario business community to hire Syrian refugees


A Mississauga entrepreneur is calling upon the business community of Ontario to consider Syrian refugees during their hiring process.



Earlier this year, the federal government welcomed more than 25,000 Syrians refugees. Upon their arrival, many businesses and corporate companies supported the government’s decision by making a commitment to help refugees settle in Canada.


Paramount Fine Foods, one of Ontario’s biggest chain of halal restaurants with its headquarter in Mississauga, announced it would hire 100 refugees by December 2016.


This summer, Paramount exceeded its target by hiring 73 displaced people, including 25 in Mississauga and five in Brampton locations.


“We’re way ahead of our target,” said Paramount Fine Foods’ president and CEO Mohamad Fakih. “We have already hired 73 and we will continue hiring as much as we can.”
