Canadian Chamber Applauds Trans Mountain and Line 3 Approvals

Ottawa, November 29, 2016-The Canadian Chamber of Commerce congratulates the government on its decision to approve the expansion of the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain pipeline project and of the Enbridge Line 3 replacement project.

‘The government has taken a difficult decision, but one that is in the best interests of Canada. These pipelines will diversify our international energy markets, create much-needed jobs for Canadian families and benefit every region of the country,’ said the Hon. Perrin Beatty, President and CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. ‘Our national network of 450 Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade has repeatedly demonstrated its support for getting Canadian oil to international markets. Trans Mountain and Line 3 will responsibly support the competitiveness of Canada’s economy.’

The Trans Mountain pipeline expansion will allow Alberta oil producers to access international markets through the Port of Vancouver, diminishing Canada’s reliance on its current client, the United States.
